mine, my own…..my PRECIOUSSSS…

mark this day (28th June 2007) in your diaries, all ye Ipoh-ites….Cold Storage is BACK in town! yes, for those who remember (from my generation at least…gosh i feel OLD now!) there was once [upon a time] a Cold Storage in Ipoh. then it mysteriously disappeared. well, it’s back again…..in Parkson’s basement (yes, the same Parkson which houses Ipoh’s 1st Starbucks!….and ppl wonder what’s so ‘happening’ in Ipoh..sigh)

anyway, there i was…Thursday afternoon in Cold Storage, when it had it’s soft opening. and i joined the crowd [read: almost 1/2 of Ipoh's population!] together with my aunt for grocery shopping. highlight for the day: abt 10 items or so (as put in the catalogue) were going at RM 0.10….yes, people 10 cents! including the French Loaf….which again i unashamedly joined the crowd [who looked liked refugees rushing to the UN food-supply truck] just to get a loaf! did i mention the loaf costs ONLY 10 cents? (ok, so i’m repeating myself…so what? i AM old….i’m older than the 1st Transformers cartoon anyway!)

so there! Ipoh is NOT as boring n sleepy as people think it is. interesting things DO happen…[especially around my neighbourhood at least....did i also forget to mention that abt a year ago the police n the local CSIs found a body in the drain a few houses away from my house? no? oh well, that shall go into another day's blog...] i’m not complaining….Parkson is after all abt 1km from my house…so is the rest of the town…more or less….ok, so i AM sort of ‘city-girl’…

shall get back to checking mail….and Maxine if you read this, REPLY MY IMs DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!

myterious things have happened lately. MANY, but i shall list down the ones that i remember and the ones that have intrigued us all
(all = myself, my room mate Deepti)

1. missing food / drinks from the refridgerator
[honestly, WHY steal? if you wanted some, just ask! duh! first it was Deepti's Milo, which surprisingly 'drank' itself to almost a 1/4 of the box; next Priya's can of tuna decided to 'swim' back into the Pacific; today, as of 9:30am this morning, my jar of peanut butter surprisingly 'ate' itself up and disappeared!]

2. btw 2:30 n 3am in the mornings, there’s this scent of joss sticks which roam the air
[it freaked Deepti out one night when she stayed up to study. as far as i know, the girls in our unit are all Hindu, save for myself....and NO ONE burns joss sticks at such hours of the night!]

3. the amazing things that happen in the bathrooms
[it is the strange 'tracks' that are left behind after use ie. footprints on the toilet seat, hair (or should i say 'shedding of FUR') on the floors, AND not flushing after use!]

4. the ‘room mate’…
[she's not only weird (with a capital W), she's also rather picky - Deepti n i can't have the radio on in the room coz her 'excelency' wants to study/sleep/stare at us/listen to our conversation/play games on her phone/etc. BUT if Lagoon has music past the 200decible level, it's FINE with her....coz it somehow 'improves' her concentration. INTERESTING!]

5. the ‘room mate’….yet again
[when her 'excelency' decides to sleep, it is usually at some odd hour in the afternoon. then she wakes up at dinner time and 'studies' (last we checked, Deepti saw her reading the Dictionary...WOW!) then when it's past midnight, she (again) decides to sleep (coz the next day her classes are early in the morning) but since she's had LOADS of sleep in the evening, she can't sleep now - hence the tossing n turning and the staring into the dark for no reason! to top it all off, she sets her alarm the next morning to wake ME up....and not HER! AMAZING!!!]

so, there’s the list…for now. i shall keep you updated on further adventures at Unit 403…….

*decides to go back to studying Media Audience*
*realizes ‘room mate’ is back*
*closes room door n studies outside, with faithful companion named Radio* *screw you, Room Mate!!!!*
